History and Goals • Why Choose SPI • Clients • Services • Graphics and Design • Contact Us • Links Pharmacoeconomic Modeling Pharmacoeconomic modeling is an important component in demonstrating the value of drug and medical device products. SPI has been very active at the national and international levels in pharmacoeconomics, drug evaluation, and modeling. Dr. Fullerton has served on the Board of Directors of the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR); and as co-chair of the ISPOR Special Interest Group on Managed Care. SPI’s goal is to provide clinically relevant, transparent models that meet the needs of formulary decision makers. The US managed care (and government programs) audience wants models that focus on direct pharmacy and medical costs, and the primary variables that impact economic outcomes. For international single payer systems, the societal perspective including indirect costs is an important consideration. We develop about half the models that appear in our dossiers. In the other cases, the manufacturer may have previously prepared a model in-house, or with outside advisors. In those cases, we describe and communicate results of the model in the AMCP or international format required for submission.
